Adlam is a relatively modern alphabet created in the 1980s by teenage brothers Ibrahima and Abdoulaye Barry to write Fulani (Fula), now spoken by approximately 40 million people across West Africa. Noto Sans Adlam Unjoined presents the script in a disconnected form, as opposed to the cursive joined variant, making it more accessible for learners and certain typographic contexts. The variable weight axis spans multiple weights, and this typeface is essential for digital literacy initiatives and content production across the Sahel region.
