Jeremy Tribby's Barlow takes its proportional cues from the highway signage of California, particularly the Caltrans lettering systems, giving it a confident, open grotesque character that works at both display and text sizes. All nine weights are static rather than variable, providing predictable visual steps for designers who prefer explicit weight increments over interpolated values.
