About LXGW WenKai TC
LXGW WenKai TC is an open-source Traditional Chinese typeface inspired by Iwata Mincho's handwritten style, covering Traditional Chinese characters with a warm, semi-cursive quality derived from kaishu (regular script) calligraphy. Three weights extend from light to bold, and the design also supports Cyrillic, Cyrillic Extended, Greek, Greek Extended, and Lisu scripts — an unusually broad coverage for a CJK typeface. The result is a humanist CJK font ideal for long-form reading, academic texts, and any application where the organic character of traditional Chinese letterforms is preferred over mechanically uniform Ming or Gothic designs.
