About Monomakh
Monomakh, designed by Aleksandr Andreev and Nikita Simmons, is a revival of pre-Petrine Cyrillic letterforms — the semi-uncial script used in Russian ecclesiastical manuscripts before Peter the Great's modernizing reforms of the 18th century. The design carefully reconstructs the distinctive angled pen logic and calligraphic rhythm of these historical forms while supporting extended Cyrillic script ranges. It is a specialized display face for historical Russian cultural projects, Orthodox church publishing, and academic work involving Church Slavonic.
