About Noto Traditional Nushu
Nüshu is a syllabic script historically used exclusively by women in Jiangyong County, Hunan Province, China — one of the very few known writing systems created by and for women. Noto Traditional Nüshu supports the full Unicode Nüshu block with a five-step variable weight axis, giving typographers and scholars flexibility in rendering this culturally significant script. It is vital for digital preservation efforts, gender studies research, and projects documenting the oral and literary traditions of the Jiangyong women's community.
