Fira Sans

Im Auftrag von Mozilla und entworfen von Carrois Apostrophe wurde Fira Sans als Interfaceschrift für Firefox OS entwickelt, optimiert für die Einschränkungen kleiner Mobilbildschirme und die Anforderungen einer globalen Nutzerbasis. Das Design verbindet humanistische Wärme mit der Gleichmäßigkeit einer Grotesk, und die umfangreiche Sprachunterstützung — Kyrillisch, Griechisch, Latein Erweitert — spiegelt die Herkunft als Werkzeug für internationale Kommunikation wider. Neun Gewichte ohne variable Achse bieten diskrete, vorhersehbare Schritte, die manche Designer für die Einhaltung strenger typografischer Systeme bevorzugen.

Fira Sans is a humanist sans-serif designed for Mozilla's Firefox OS, optimized for legibility on small, low-resolution screens. Its open apertures, tall x-height, and clear letterform differentiation make it exceptionally readable at compact sizes. The family spans 18 styles across nine weights with true italics, offering broad typographic flexibility.
