Frank Griesshammers Source Serif 4 ist die ausgereifte Weiterentwicklung der Source-Serif-Familie, Adobes Serifen-Pendant zu Source Sans, die über mehrere Versionen hinweg zu einer nuancierten Übergangsserifenschrift mit variablen Achsen für optische Größe und Schnitt verfeinert wurde. Die opsz-Achse erlaubt es der Schrift, Buchstabendetails automatisch an die Größe anzupassen – bei kleinen Größen werden Abstände geweitet und Öffnungen vergrößert, bei Display-Größen werden Proportionen gestrafft und der Kontrast erhöht. Die Unterstützung für Kyrillisch, Griechisch und Vietnamesisch macht sie zu einer leistungsfähigen globalen Schrift für redaktionelle Systeme, technische Dokumentation und digitale Bücher.
