Libre Franklin
About Libre Franklin
Libre Franklin by Impallari Type is an adaptation of Morris Fuller Benton's Franklin Gothic, the defining American grotesque of the early twentieth century, reconfigured as a full variable font spanning nine weights with a wght axis. The variable implementation adds significant versatility to what was already a highly functional workhorse grotesque, and Cyrillic-ext and Vietnamese support extend its geographic reach well beyond the original's Latin-only scope. It carries the confident, no-nonsense authority of its historical source material, making it ideal for editorial design, news publishing, and interfaces where typographic boldness is an asset.
