Part of Google's sprawling Noto project, this typeface delivers comprehensive Japanese coverage — hiragana, katakana, kanji, and Latin — within a consistent humanist design system intended to eliminate 'tofu' (missing character boxes). With 9 weights and a variable weight axis, it scales beautifully from body text to display sizes. Cyrillic and Vietnamese are also supported, enabling seamless multilingual documents mixing Japanese and European scripts.
